CIA reveals identity of 15 operatives

WASHINGTON, May 26: The CIA is remembering those lost in covert operations, adding a new star to the intelligence agency’s memorial wall and more than a dozen names to its ‘Book of Honour’.

The star is for Jeffrey Patneau, a young officer killed in a car crash in Yemen in September 2008. CIA Director David Petraeus marked the loss and others to the war on terrorism at a private ceremony at CIA headquarters this past week.

The addition of the 15 names to the ‘Book of Honour’ means their families can now acknowledge where their loved ones worked when they died. Most were killed in terrorist acts over the last three decades in places like Pakistan, Lebanon and Kenya.—AP
