LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday gave an opportunity to move an amended petition in the laptop scandal case filed by Mubashir Luqman, a private TV anchor.
Earlier, petitioner's counsel Ali Zafar arguing before the single bench comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial alleged that the Punjab government had spent a sum of Rs 4 billion on the free laptop distribution scheme in violation of rules and procurement policy.
He submitted that the distribution of laptops was also not made as per criteria set for the scheme.
He pleaded the court to issue directions for strict action against the responsibles after declaring that laptops were procured in violation of rules and distributed against criteria.
The counsel also pleaded for directions to the Punjab government to provide record of the purchase and distribution of laptos.
However, a provincial law officer refuted the allegations levelled by the petitioner's counsel and submitted that he had material which answered the allegations.
The court directed the law officer to show the material to the petitioner's counsel.
The court also gave an opportunity to petitioner's counsel for filing an amended petition after restating the case.
