MMA to face Sherpao on NA-34

TIMERGARA,  Dec 11: The election campaign is getting  momentum in  Lower  Dir as the day of by-election is closing in and  a tough one-to- one contest between Mulana Ahmad Ghafoor Ghawas of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and Ahmad Hassan Khan of the Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) is expected.

The by-election is scheduled to be held on Jan 15.

The NA-34, Lower Dir, was vacated by the Amir Jamaat-i-Islami, Qazi  Hussain  Ahmad, who had also contested from  NA-5,  Nowshera against Naseerullah Babar of the PPP and  won  it. Qazi Hussain Ahmad also got elected  with  a  heavy mandate of 52,749 votes from NA-34, Lower Dir.

A  tough  one-to-one  contest is  expected  between  the  two nominated  candidates  of the MMA and PPP (Sherpao) as  no  other political  party  has  nominated  its  candidate  for  the  by- election.  The District Coordination Officer, Lower  Dir,  Masood Mian will perform the duties of the returning officer.
