Four FIRs of Tuesday violence lodged

KARACHI, May 24: Four first information reports pertaining to Tuesday’s mayhem that claimed 12 lives were lodged after a lapse of over 50 hours at different police stations on Thursday.

At least 12 people were killed and several dozen wounded when unknown armed suspects opened fire on the rally taken out from Lyari by the Awami Tehreek to protest against a Muhajir suba movement.

Two FIRs were lodged at the Kharadar police station, one of them — FIR 179/2012 under Sections 302-34, 324-34 of the PPC, Section 3/4 of Explosive Act, Section 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act against unknown suspects — on the complaint of Chakiwara SHO Idrees Bangash, who was also wounded in the firing.

The second FIR (180/2012) pertaining to the arson attacks was also lodged at the Kharadar police station on behalf of the state. As many as 12 motorcycles, a scooter, seven cars, a hi-roof, and a shop were burnt in the arson attacks while six shops were partially damaged, the FIR stated.

The third FIR (94/2012) was lodged at the Napier police station under Sections 302-34 of the PPC pertaining to the murder of a man identified as Babar on the complaint of the state.

The fourth FIR (82/2012) under Sections 302-34 of the PPC was lodged at the Garden police station pertaining to the murder of four persons, including 12-year-old girl Amna.

The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Muhammad Fareed, father of Manzoor, the burger vendor, who was killed in the Dhobi Ghat Chowk firing.
