ISLAMABAD, May 23: Private hospitals and clinics in the federal capital generate hazardous hospital waste daily, which is not properly disposed of, and dumped in the city causing serious health problems.

Medical experts say that 20 to 25 per cent of the total hospital waste is considered extremely hazardous to human health and is a potential source of fatal diseases such as hepatitis.

Dr Aftab Malik of Polyclinic stressed the need to train hospital staff in disposing of waste. — APP
