Criminals arrested with arms, narcotics

May 23: Wah Cantonment police claimed to have arrested a large number of outlaws and seized illegal arms and drugs from them during a crackdown against anti-social elements.

Those arrested included a hardened criminal and six proclaimed offenders (POs) wanted by the police in different cases.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Taxila circle Raja Taifoor Akhtar claimed that police nabbed a criminal identified as Waris Ali 33, wanted in eight different murder, attempted murder and abduction for ransom cases.

He alleged that the accused was also wanted in Dr Talal’s abduction-cum murder case.

It is to mention here that the doctor was kidnapped for Rs10 million as ransom and was later killed by the gang during a shootout with police on December 29, 2011.

He further claimed the police seized 5kg charas each from A.Q. and M.A. He said illegal arms and ammunition including 420 rounds of bullets and 10 pistols were seized from S.U. and I.K., respectively.

The SDPO also claimed to have recovered two stolen motorcycles and arrest six POs. He said the police arrested two thieves and recovered looted booty of 18 tolas gold.
