LAHORE, May 20: Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar says the PML-N’s stance on the reopening of Nato supply would not have been different from that of the PPP had it been in the government.

Addressing party workers here on Sunday, Mr Mukhtar said the government would decide the matter in the national interest.

“Had the PML-N been in the government its stance on Nato supply issue would not have been different from that of the PPP. If they face the world, those criticizing the government will come to know the ground realities,” he said.

Ahmed Mukhtar criticised the PML-N leadership and said the people were with the PPP. There had been no decline in the PPP’s graph, he said.

SAFDAR: Punjab PPP President Imtiaz Safdar Warriach says there will be now only one slogan ‘Go Shahabaz go’ in the streets of Lahore. He was speaking at a public meeting at Lakhudair, the constituency of federal minister Samina Ghurki, here on Sunday.

He said Punjab and Lahore were again going to become a stronghold of the PPP and the Sharifs would be sent back to Jati Umra of Jallandhar. “The people of Lahore will take to the streets against the Sharifs and raise go Shahbaz go slogans,” he said.

The PPP youth wing had organized the rally to express solidarity with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. As some participants were displaying weapons, the PPP said they were the guards of the party leaders.

Warriach said the PPP would win all the national and provincial assembly seats in Lahore as the Sharifs’ PML-N had no match with Zardari’s PPP.

Samina Ghurki said the chief minister instead of spending billions on free distribution of laptops should focus on the primary education which was in bad shape. —Staff Reporter
