LAHORE, May 20: Four-year-old bay colt Bingo lived up to his status of favouritism with a comfortable success to make it four wins in a row during the Lahore Summer Meeting held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Representing the colours of joint-owners Mian Maahir Ahmad and Mahmood Khan, Bingo stormed home in the straight to win the seventh race of the day contested over 1,100 metres.

The colt had by far the best credentials with three straight wins to his credit while his rivals had not scored beyond a solitary win.

Ridden admirably by one-time leading jockey Aamir Pervez, Bingo was trained by A.B. Malik. The 30 to 100 favourite beat mare Super Chandi by three lengths.

Chestnut horse Brave Zoia finished third over a length back with the bay horse Aboor fourth in a big field of dozen runners.

The cheering spectators, who braved a hot sunny afternoon, gave a big hand to the jockey when the colt arrived in the paddock.

Long shot chestnut horse Al Shams put up a much improved performance when he beat favourite colt Elegance by a neck to land the feature event run over 1,100 metres.

Riding boy Aftab Chaudhry gave a splendid ride to the winner while jockey A. Raza looked a novice when both horses fought a neck-and-neck battle in the final strides. Raza who returned to the course after a long lay off looked to have lost riding touch when later his mount Babu finished a disappointing third in the eighth race.

Riding boy Munir Hussain and Trainer Mohammad Afzal shared the day’s racing honours when the former rode home a brace of winners while the later sent out three winners.

Four favourite horses won in a card of nine races decided on Sunday.
