IT is not just about cars running on city roads with AFR (applied for registration) number plates costing the public exchequer, as was printed in last Monday’s issue, private vehicles increasingly use fancy plates, camouflaging or distorting the registration numbers for apparently ulterior reasons and caring little for official instructions that only Sindh government approved license plates be used.

The traffic police — often seen harassing motorcyclists on roadsides and openly seeking bribe rather than making the motorists follow the rules and helping ease snarls-up — do not bother to check such a grave violation of the law. — Text and photos by Anis Hamdani
