LAHORE: Pakistan will not call up a replacement for the injured opener Nasir Jamshed for their forthcoming tour of Sri Lanka, chief selector Iqbal Qasim said on Thursday.
Nasir, who was a part of Pakistan’s T20 and One-day International squads, injured the index finger in his left hand while playing a club game a few days ago which ruled him out for six to eight weeks.
“As openers Ahmad Shahzad and Khalid Latif are already in the T20 team along with captain Mohammad Hafeez, there will be no shortage of options for us in the opening department,” Iqbal told Dawn.
“Therefore there is no immediate need for calling up a replacement for Nasir.
“For the five-match ODI series, however, the selectors have decided to leave it up to the team management to decide on whether to retain Khalid Latif or Ahmed Shehzad as Nasir’s replacement.”
