IT has been a matter of great pleasure for us that interior ministers of Pakistan and India are scheduled to hold a meeting toward the end of May in Islamabad to discuss recommendations put forward by both sides to facilitate people, especially senior citizens, to visit each other’s country.
In this regard, the visa policy has been relaxed to enable citizens of both countries to travel without any hassle and an agreement is expected to be signed by the relevant ministers at this meeting.
We do hope that both the ministers will think about the hurdles being faced by the common man to visit each other’s country.
I would like to remind both the officials that they must put the example of the European Union before them which has come into being after great wars, problems and disputes amongst European countries.
Europeans are sensible, educated and farsighted people. We should also follow them and make this region an example of love, affection, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
I, being a senior citizen, am hopeful that Pakistan and India will be reasonable enough to issue free and independent visas.
