Hockey camp shifted to Lahore

LAHORE: The training camp of the national hockey team has been shifted from Islamabad to Lahore and it will start here from Tuesday.

The team will depart to Malaysia on Friday to participate in the Azlan Shah Cup from May 24 to June 3.

As the main ground of the National Hockey Stadium has no astroturf, the camp will be held on the outer ground of the stadium.

The national selection committee announced the squad for the Azlan Shah Cup on Sunday.

The PHF has named Sohail Abbas to lead the side replacing Shakeel Abbasi, who along with other seven players are facing inquiry for taking part in the controversial WHS league in India.

Sohail Abbas (captain), Waqas Sharif (vice-captain), Imran Shah, Rashid Mehmood, Fareed Ahmed, Mohammad Tauseeq, Imran Bhutt, Khalid Bhatti, Kashif Shah, Mohammad Rizwan Senior, Mohammad Rizwan Junior, Kashif Butt, Shafqat Rasool, Umer Bhatta, Ali Shan, Mohammad Zubair, Abdul Haseem, Shabbir Ahmed, Mohammad Irfan.
