Jamali demands Rs100bn for science, technology

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Khan Jamali has demanded Rs 100 billion plus funds from the government in the coming budget to magnify development in the science and technology field.

A few days ago I held a meeting with deputy chairman planning commission and asked him to earmark at least one per cent of the GDP (over Rs 100 billion) for the development of science and technology in Pakistan, Minister said this while speaking at the 2nd Corporate Ambassador Awards 2012 and the launching of Online Edition of the CA in Karachi on Saturday evening.

He said that adequate funds must be allocated in the new budget to promote science and technology development in the country.

He said that there was enormous potential of growth and investment in the field of science and technology in the country. He urged the minister to use his influence to motivate the government to support development of technology and exports.
