The year 2012 is being celebrated as the birth centenary year of the inimitable writer Saadat Hasan Manto. While a great many activities are being held to pay homage to the great mind, Ajoka Theatre has also come up with a worthwhile plan.

The group has organised a tribute-to-Manto show (from May 14 to May 17) at Lahore’s Alhamra Mall in which performances of Manto’s famous stories in the form of plays and dramatised readings will be presented.

Three of Manto classics—Siyah Hashiyey, Khol Do and Toba Tek Singh—will be performed on May 14 and May 15 with a reading of Akhri Salute. On May 16 and May 17, Nay Qanoon will be performed along with dramatised readings of Sawarey Jo Kal, Akh Mere Khuli, Parde Ki Baatein, Dekh Kabira Roya and Uncle Sam Ke Khutoot.

So folks, let’s celebrate Manto. It’s about time.
