Those who think our youth is not as talented or intellectually inclined as their seniors used to be in their salad days, well think again!
There are many theatre groups, musicians and singers who are gradually but surely making their presence felt. A case in point is groups of students of two prestigious institutions of the country. One of them is called Laltain which recently did a successful show at the Arts Council, Karachi. Their theatrics coupled with a wonderful act by the young and talented musician, Usman Riaz, was liked by the audience. A bunch of IBA students also intend to stage a peculiar kind of a play soon whose title can’t be given away at this point in time. The National Academy of Performing Arts graduates are not far behind. And the youngsters who recently staged the Anwar Maqsood play, Paunay 14 August, too deserve a pat on the back.
If you want to see and hear the rock ‘n’ roll kind of stuff, groovy acoustic jam sessions at Karachi’s T2F will introduce you to some amazing up and coming artistes. So, all is not that bad in the land of the pure. All that’s required is encouragement and the right attitude.—PYT
