PESHAWAR: A roadside bomb targeting a vehicle carrying police killed one of them in Peshawar, security officials said.

He said the officers were escorting a prison van, but no prisoner was hurt.

No group has claimed responsibility, but the Pakistani branch of the Taliban often targets police, military troops and other security forces to pressure the government to end support for the United States in its campaign against al Qaeda and other militant groups.
