LONDON, May 6: Sir Trevor Brooking has hit back at suggestions he was behind the Football Association’s decision not to offer Harry Redknapp the England manager’s job.

Redknapp was the favourite to replace Fabio Capello as England’s new coach, but the Spurs boss was handed a shock snub as theFA instead opted to appoint West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson earlier this week.

However, Brooking, a former West Ham team-mate of Bonds and Redknapp, insists that was not the case.

“I’ve heard the whispers and I’ve seen one or two things which have been written, and it’s just outrageous,” Brooking told the Mail on Sunday.—AFP
