KARACHI, Nov 19: Pakistan junior cricket coach Haroon Rasheed Monday praised his side for winning the first one-dayer against Sri Lanka Under-19 team but cautioned against complacency.
“We have been telling these junior players how important it is to show consistency in the performance,” Haroon said.
Pakistan overwhelmed Sri Lanka by nine wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match one-day series. The second match is scheduled for Rawalpindi on Nov 21.
“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is doing a lot for these junior players and we have been extensively training for the series against Sri Lanka and for next year’s Junior World Cup,” he said.
“The team fielded well and effected five run-outs to restrict Sri Lanka. Later Salman Butt and Khaqan Arsal batted well to achieve the target with ease,” he added.
Haroon hoped that the team would maintain the momentum in the remaining games.
“We have a month-long camp after this series and we would be going to Australia so that we can acclimatize properly,” he said.
