LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday assailed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership for manipulating masses over SC’s verdict in contempt of court case against him, DawnNews reported.
Speaking to lawmakers hailing from Southern Punjab, the prime minister reiterated his stand on not writing a letter to the Swiss authorities for reopening graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari. “Constitution provides the president immunity,” he added.
He said that he was protecting the constitution for not writing the letter.
The premier pointed out that the Sharif brothers signed a ten-year contract with dictator (former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf) for their self-deportation to Saudi Arabia.
“Only the parliament can dislodge me from the premiership,” said the PM.
Pointing out the PML-N, he said the protesters should not forget that the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) was first introduced by their party.
The prime minister pointed out that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) signed the Charter of Democracy (CoD) for allowing Sharifs to return back to Pakistan.
