Resign or face protest movement, Nawaz warns PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) chief on Monday urged Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to bow down to the apex court’s orders and quit his premiership, DawnNews reported.

Moroever, Sharif warned that the government would have to face a protest movement if the prime minister does not resign.

“Comply with the Supreme Court’s orders. Resign from the prime minister’s office. Or get ready to face a protest movement,” said the PML-N chief.

Addressing a press conference after a joint meeting of the party's Central Working Committee and the Central Parliamentary party in Islamabad, Sharif said that his party has decided to continue its struggle for ensuring the rule of law in Pakistan.

The PML-N chief added that all opposition parties would be contacted for the movement, including Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI), the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s JUI-F.

Sharif further announced that the PML-N would commence its protest from inside the National Assembly later today.
