SIALKOT, Dec 9: Another exporter, kidnapped on Dec 6, reached home after his family reportedly paid ransom.
Some unidentified men in police uniforms had intercepted Muhammad Islam Shaikh near Muridke on Eid day while he was on way to Sialkot from Lahore.
They snatched one kilogramme of gold and 100,000 Saudi Riyals from Islam and took him to some unknown place at gunpoint.
Later, the kidnappers had demanded Rs10 million ransom for his release.
Sources said that the exporter’s family secured his release after payment of Rs10 million ransom.
Islam Shaikh denied payment of ransom.
Meanwhile, MPA Arshad Mahmood Baggu has expressed grave concern over the rising number of robbery, dacoity, kidnapping for ransom incidents in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and adjoining areas.
The MPA told newsmen on Monday that after Oct 10, the crime rate in Sialkot district was on the rise. He criticized the Sialkot police and the district government for failure to provide protection especially to exporters, traders, businessmen and industrialists.
He urged the Punjab IGP to take effective measurers for purging the Sialkot district from the criminals.

According to official sources, Nazir Ahmad (38) was sitting in the courtyard of his house, when bullets fired by Indian forces hit him.
His condition was stated to be critical at the Sialkot CMH.
