Trade with Myanmar

THIS is apropos of the news item ‘Steps to boost trade with Myanmar’ (March 30).

The question is that there is no embassy or consulate-general of Myanmar in Pakistan, nor is there any direct flight for Yangon.

Last December I went to Bangkok and contacted many a travel agent to get me a visa and a ticket for Yangon (Myanmar); everybody, on seeing the green passport, refused to do the needful.

They asked me to go directly to the embassy of Burma and apply for a visa. The question is: how will you boost trade when there is no direct link between Pakistan and Myanmar?
