LONDON: Disgraced fast bowler Mohammad Asif will be released in the first week of May from the Canterbury Jail in England after serving a six-month jail sentence for spot-fixing, his lawyer said on Friday.

Ravi Sukul, Asif’s lawyer, said they were waiting for the release orders, adding the final date of the right-arm paceman had not been received yet.

Mohammad Amir, one of the three disgraced Pakistani cricketers convicted by a UK court for spot-fixing, was released after serving sentence in the same spot-fixing case in February.
