HYDERABAD, Dec 8: Akhtar Nawaz, resident of Pathan Colony, has demanded of President Pervez Musharraf to suspend the top police officials whose negligence helped the alleged murderer of his brother escape from a hospital on Dec 3.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club here on Sunday, he held superintendent of Central Jail, Hyderabad, Civil Hospital in-charge and other police officials responsible for the escape of the murderer of his brother, under-trial prisoner, Shabbir Ahmed.

Akhtar Nawaz said that his brother, Rahim Nawaz, had been murdered by four brothers — Shabbir Ahmed Arian, Nazir Arian, Basheer Arian, and Shafique Arian.

He said that now Nazir and Basheer were threatening him with death if the murder case was not withdrawn.

He said that the police arrested Nazir and Basheer but another brother of theirs, Ikhlaque Ahmed Arain, has gone underground.

He appealed to the president, the prime minister, the Sindh governor, the IGP, the home secretary, the IG, Prisons, and the DPO (Hyderabad) to provide him protection.
