GUJRANWALA, Dec 5: Federal Interior Minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat visited the residence of slain PPP city president Chaudhry Khalid Humayun on the Sheikhupura Road here on Thursday.
He expressed his deep sorrow over the murder of Chaudhry Khalid and condoled with the heirs of the deceased. He urged the district administration that the accused involved in the killing of the PPP leader should be arrested immediately and challan be sent to court of law. He paid tributes to Khalid Humayun for his services for the party.
Talking to newsmen, he said the government was adopting solid steps for maintaining law and order situation in the country. He expressed his hope that the government would complete its term with the cooperation and coordination of like-minded political parties and groups.
He said the bomb blast in Karachi outside the Macedonia embassy was being interrogated and clue be found within a few days.
suspended: Meanwhile, the SHO and the investigating officer of Sabzi Mandi police were suspended from service on charges of negligence.
The Sabzi Mandi police had arrested Hafiz Muhammad Jamal from People’s Colony a few days ago who was involved in the killing of city PPP president Khalid Humayun. But, the accused escaped from police station mysteriously when investigating officer ASI Ijaz Ahmad went to Faisalabad after locking him in his room to arrest the suspects identified by Jamal.
On his return, he arrested the accused’s three brothers and their father to force the absconder to surrender.
The SSP took serious note of the escape of Jamal and suspended Sabzi Mandi SHO SI Amir Sandho and ASI Ijaz Ahmad.
The SSP posted SI Nawaz Goraya as SHO and directed him to find accused Jamal.
It is stated that action was taken on the complainant of Afzal Mehr, former councillor and cousin of deceased Khalid Humayun.
CRUSHED: A minor boy was crushed to death on Thursday by a speeding coaster on the GT Road near Rahwali.
Muhammad Saleem was crossing the road when the incident occurred. He died on the spot.
Cantonment police have registered a case and are investigating.
