LAHORE, April 1: The PML-N is happy about the ‘reported’ closure of the ISI’s political wing.

“We welcome the statement of new ISI director-general announcing abolition of its political wing,” PML-N Secretary Information Senator Mushahidullah Khan said at a press conference here on Sunday.

Flanked by PML-N media coordinator Mohammed Mehdi, Mr Khan alleged that the former ISI chief (Gen Pasha) had weakened the PML-N.

He said it was shameful that the name of the prime minister’s son had surfaced in a financial scam. He said the Gilani government instead of giving relief to the masses was burdening them with another increase in the petroleum prices.

He demanded the government to immediately withdraw the increase in petroleum prices. Extending support to anti-loadshedding protests in different parts of the country, particularly in Punjab, Khan said PML-N believed that these would continue until the government woke up to its duty.

He said injustice was being meted out to Punjab where loadshedding continued for 20 hours a day.

The PML-N leader said millions of people had become jobless due to power outages but the federal government was paying no attention to address the issue. He said the government should stop linking the increase in petroleum prices with global recession and it should provide relief to the people.
