KARACHI: Sindh government on Thursday appointed district and sessions judge (South), Karachi as inquiry officer to conduct the judicial probe into the incident of killing of Mansoor Mukhtar and his elder brother Masood Mukhtar.

His sister-in-law was also injured in the armed attack in early hours of last Tuesday here in PIB Colony, which flared violence in the city and around 10 people lost their lives.

This was stated in a notification issued by the Home Department.

The terms of reference (ToR) of the inquiry shall be:

(i) To ascertain the circumstance and causes leading to the murders and injuries in the incident.

(ii) To ascertain the losses of lives and other properties like vehicles etc as after effects of the murders and violence in the metropolis.

(iii) To ascertain the role of Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs) and other political concerns in the violence after the incident of March 27.

(iv) To fix the responsibility and recommend the action to be taken against the responsible persons directly or indirectly involved in the double murder and violence in Karachi.

The inquiry officer has to submit his report within 30 days to the government, it added.
