KARACHI: An activist of the Awami National Party (ANP) was shot dead in Karachi, DawnNews reported on Wednesday, flaring up violence in the city once again.

ANP activist Zain-ul-Abideen was killed in a targeted attack on his vehicle near the Matric Board Office in the Nazimabad area of the city. A companion of the deceased activist sustained injuries as a result of the attack.

The killing was followed by reports of firing, forced shutdown of business and vehicle-torching incidents in various parts of the city.

The total death toll from violence in the city reached six, where as 13 vehicles have been torched as 'Day of mourning' continues.

The attack came a day after the city descended into violence as arsonists went on the rampage, killing at least 10 people and setting on fire over 40 vehicles.
