Parliament not in favour of restoring Nato supply route: Fazlur

PESHAWAR: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday spoke about the reservations on the recommendations by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to a large gathering in Peshawar, Rehman said that the opposition parties want further discussions on the recommendations.

He further said that there is no military solution of the Afghanistan issue. He said that the government was discussing opening the Nato supply route with the US but was making it seem as if it is the Parliament’s decision. The JUI-F chief said that if the government restored the routes, it will be its own decision and not the Parliament’s. He said that the country will not support this decision.

Rehman said that the country was blindly following a foreign policy imported from abroad and said that an independent foreign policy can only be devised after economic stability.
