KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Thursday declared former Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim’s PS-60 seat vacant following a resolution regarding his continued absence from the house.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Agha Siraj Durrani moved the motion against the PML-Q (Likeminded) president, asking for his seat to be declared vacant due to his absence without leave from the assembly for 40 consecutive days.

The development was expected after the house had earlier rejected the former CM’s leave application earlier on March 20.

Arbab Ghulam Rahim has been living abroad for the last four years. He had cited security concerns as the reasons for his absence in his last leave application.
