Designer Rosy Patel is quite popular in many social circles and is a premier designer choice for formal evening wear. With an established clientele, it was a given that the natural way to go for her now is into branded lawn and she did exactly that with a three-day exhibition at The Dynasty, Karachi, last week with a full-blown fashion presentation.

The showcase started with a collection of stunning saris that spoke of the designer’s versatility and vision when it comes to wrapping oneself in six yards of fabric and carrying it off as a style statement. The saris featured pattern silk borders in geometrical graphics and gara-like embroidered edging with broad chikan lace that provided just a small peek into emerging new concepts in designer sari wear. The segment was well-received by the audience who showed their appreciation by giving it a round of applause every time.

Next, fashion models Iraj, Fauzia, Gia Ali, Rubya Chaudhry, Maha, Koni and others displayed an array of fetching lawn three-piece suits with a vibrant hue of red being the dominant streak in every outfit and of twin shades. Together with some appealing ice candy colours, the designer’s take on the colour palette remained earthern but very lively and refresing with sea green and colours added to give diversity. The cuts remained ankle-length low and flowy for shirts with a few handkerchief-cut tops worn over narrow-fitting slim jeans that set the mood for summer as elegant, trendy and hyper-chic.—T.R.
