TIMERGARA: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Malakand, on Friday allowed extra 40-minute time to a physically challenged student of Timergara for solving his papers in the secondary school certificate (SSC) examinations here.

The BISE chairman, Prof Mohammad Ayaz, visited the examination hall at Timergara and met with the student, Qadir Mohammad, who used his toes to write because he had no fingers on his hands.

He directed the examination staff to provide 40 minutes more than the allowed three-hour time to the student so he could easily solve his papers.

Talking to journalists on the occasion, Prof Ayaz said that the board would also provide financial support to the student till completion of his higher secondary school education.

Qadir Mohammad, a resident of Timergara, had demanded of the BISE authorities to allow him extra time in the annual examinations as he could solve the papers, but his writing speed was too slow to do that in the specified three hours.

He told journalists at the Timergara examination centre that it was difficult for him to complete the paper in three hours.

The student, who has no fingers, has been studying at a private English medium school in Timergara.
