KARACHI: FBR chairman Mumtaz Haider Rizvi said Saturday that Customs House and Custom-Bonded Warehouses would remain open on Saturdays to facilitate traders.
According to KCCI, he made this announcement during a meeting with the delegation of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by vice chairman Businessmen Group Mohammad Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooki and KCCI President Mian Abrar Ahmad at Customs House.
The delegation apprised the FBR chief of the taxation problems facing KCCI members. The KCCI delegation informed about the apprehensions by business and industrial community related to SRO 191(1)/2012 whereby FBR invited KCCI’s proposals and to broaden the tax base.
Issue of flying invoices and harassment to business community was also discussed.
The FBR chairman listened to grievances of the KCCI delegation and sought proposals for subsequent decision in the follow-up meeting scheduled in the next week.
The KCCI delegation also requested the FBR chairman to open the Customs House and Custom-bonded warehouses on Saturdays which he agreed.
Member Inland Revenue Shahid Hussain Asad and other FBR officials also participated in the meeting. Representatives of PHMA, Jodia Bazar and Paper Market and other associations attended the meeting.—APP
