Prickly customers
This is with reference to the article Prickly customers by Zahrah Nasir (YW, February 25, 2012). We enjoyed reading the article.
The article prompted us to share our father’s experience of a hedgehog when he was a kid. Our grandmother had a pet hedgehog which used to live in a burrow in the backyard of the house. The hedgehog would come out of its burrow in late evenings and roam around the house freely. Our grandmother used to put milk or leftover meals for it.
If my father tried to touch it with a stick, the hedgehog would curl itself like a ball with sharp spines around it and would make its typical noise, like “Shsssss…” as a protest.
We have a careless attitude towards these small creatures and don’t pay heed to them. It is my request to the authorities to take all the necessary steps to protect this and other rare species. Also, to the readers, I would like to say that they should research and write more articles about these and other innocent animals.

Young World
This is regarding the YW team’s good efforts. The magazine is one of the best children’s magazines of the country and I give all the credit to the team’s efforts and also to the regular contributors of the YW. Also, I would like to suggest to the team to print more stories every week as children are really fond of them.

Few copies of YW in Gwadar
I am an old reader of the YW and this is with reference to the letter Few copies of Young World in Gwadar by Aziz Baloch (February 19, 2012).
I completely agree with the writer and I am thankful to the YW team that they highlighted this issue. Usually, copies of Dawn newspaper are not available in large quantity, especially on Saturdays and Sundays in cities like, Pasni, Gwadar, Ormara, etc., therefore, readers of YW suffer a lot.
I request the newspaper’s management to look into this matter and provide the citizens of Balochistan with more copies of YW.

Snow creaturesThis is with reference to the photo feature Snow creatures by B. Khan (YW, February 25, 2012). I really liked the article as it was persuasive enough to tempt us to visit the hilly areas of our country and enjoy the snow. The pictures were also very interesting; indeed, they were a treat for those who visit these areas and for those who live there.Sanya Iqbal,Karachi i
Facts about cartoons
This is regarding Cartoon Facts (YW, February 25, 2012). The facts were amazing and I really liked them a lot. I would like to request the YW team to always include interesting facts about cartoons, etc. It would also be great if YW started publishing a poster of a cartoon character each week.

The flying ostrich
This is with reference to the story The flying ostrich by Maimoona Hyder (February 25, 2012). The story was very interesting and focused on physical beauty.
I totally agree with the writer that only external beauty is not important, it is the internal beauty which is most needed. Those who have good character and are well-mannered will surely be valued and respected in society.
