Away from all the talk of the cricket Asia Cup and Pakistan’s new coach Dav Whatmore, the country hosted the 7-National Snooker Championship in Karachi. Teams from Iran, Bahrain, Egypt, India, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thailand and hosts Pakistan were seen in action at the Pearl Continental during the championship which Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh won after beating Hossein Vafaei Ayouri of Iran. As the event wrapped up Dawn.com spoke to the manager of Iran, the IBSF General Secretary, and India’s former Asian Champion Yasin Merchant about their thoughts on competing in Pakistan and what the game of snooker needs to generate more interest.
