KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) has urged the State Bank of Pakistan to direct commercial banks to stop making delays in the process of export orders documents and should not also refuse issuing the Form E for shipments to Iran.

The association in a statement on Tuesday urged the SBP to sort out issues, arose after the EU and US sanctions on Iran, by applying proper arrangements for exports to Tehran.

Small and medium rice exporters have finalised handsome volume of orders from Iranian buyers and in some cases Iranian importers have even remitted advance money for their consignments but due to slow processing of documents by Pakistani banks is hindering exports to Iran.

Unisame also urged the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) to take up the matter with the finance ministry to persuade the SBP to direct commercial banks to expedite processing of remittances from Iranian buyers.
