KARACHI, Feb 29: Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) member Dr Shershah Syed has called for evolving a system for the appointment of vice chancellors and professors for universities purely on a merit basis and in a transparent manner.

In a statement, he referred to the recent Lahore High Court verdict for appointment of vice chancellors for Punjab universities andsaid that while declaring re-appointment of the Health Sciences University vice chancellor unlawful, the court had ruled that afterexpiry of a four-year-term a person could not hold the office even for a day.—Staff Reporter
