PESHAWAR, Dec 2: On the eve of the International Day for the Disabled People, which is being observed on Dec 3, the Disabled People’s International, Pakistan, a non-governmental organization (NGO), has urged the prime minister to announce privileges for the disabled.

Mantaqa Khan, the president of the NGO, appealed to Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to direct the ministries concerned to grant special quota for the disabled in housing schemes, services and in the educational institutions.

The NGO demanded that the vehicles imported for the disabled should be exempted from duty and sales tax.

The organization also demanded 50 per cent discount for the disabled on the air and railway fares, interest-free loans for business and for building houses, free medical treatment and exemption from the property and income taxes.
