KARAK, Feb 22: The Pakistan Muslim League (Likeminded) central joint secretary, Mohammad Ayub Khan Khattak, quit his party and joined Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) here on Wednesday.

He announced his decision of joining JUI-F during a public meeting held at Amberi Kallay here on Wednesday. He demanded of the authorities to reinstate the sacked employees of Frontier Constabulary belonging to Khattak tribe.

Mr Khattak said that 350 policemen transferred to Kohat district should be sent back to Karak.

On the occasion, former nazim of tehisl Takht Nusrati Gul Rauf and tehsil president of Traders Association Malik Mehboob Mujahid also announced to join JUI-F along with their families and supporters.

Addressing the public meeting, former chief minister Akram Khan Durani criticised the Awami National Party-led provincial government. The ongoing turmoil in the province was result of the flawed policies of ANP, he alleged.

He said that suicide attacks across the province had become a routine. He added that government had handed over Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Malakand divisions to army owing to increasing lawlessness.

It showed that government had failed to maintain peace in the province, Mr Durrani said. He said that ANP should fulfil its promise about increasing oil and gas royalty of district Karak up to 20 per cent.

He thanked Mr Khattak and others for joining JUI-F. He claimed that other important politicians of Karak would join JUI-F soon.

MNA Maulana Ataur Rehman said on the occasion that drone attacks, exorbitant prices and energy crisis were gifts of the present government. He said that his party would mobilise masses against the government.
