QUETTA, Feb 17: A strike was observed here on Friday in protest against the kidnapping of Sadiq Nurzai Salar of JUI-F and the snatching of vehicle of ANP’s Balochistan president Aurangzeb Kasi.
All trading and shopping centres of the city’s main bazaar remained closed in support of the strike called by the Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl).
Protesters demanded of the government to take steps to curb kidnapping and theft in the city and on the national highways.
ANP activists took out a procession and marched on different roads of the city and chanted slogans against the government.
Addressing a rally outside the press club, Aurangzeb Kasi, ANP’s joint secretary Rashid Nasar, district president Salam Kakar, organiser of National Lawyers Forum Aminullah Kakar and Pakhtun Students Federation president Zubair Shah said the government and police had failed to curb frequent incidents of kidnapping for ransom and snatching of vehicles. They also condemned the dumping of bullet-riddled bodies.
