LARKANA, Feb 15: A mysterious blaze in Shahdadkot on Wednesday at a place of worship, which could have blown up into a sectarian clash, passed off with only a shutter-down strike, procession and a sit-in.
Protesters staging a sit-in inside the B-Section police station called for action against suspects for injuring religious feelings.
Two FIRs, one at the A-Section police station and the other at B-Section, were registered by Syed Jaffar Shah against 51 people.
Twenty-one of them were unidentified.
The SSP of Qambar-Shahdadkot, Capt Azfar Mahesar, said there was no evidence to establish that the fire was an act of arson, and not an accident.
The building sits beside an abandoned railway track on Lakhpat Road.
The SSP said the situation in the town was normal.
