MARDAN: Drugs worth Rs55,000 looted

MARDAN, Nov 18: Pir Azam Askari, an owner of a pharmaceutical firm, has complained that police have refused to register case against the robbers who looted his two gowdowns near Piran Dag, here last night.

In a statement, he said that last night thieves broke four locks of his two gowdowns near Piran Dag, and took away some eight cartons of medicines worth Rs55,000.

He said it may be mentioned that the ASI, Syedul Abrar, of B division PS, was patrolling the area when he saw the locks broken.

Azam said that the ASI informed him about the incident in the middle of the night and when he came to the scene medicines worth Rs55,000 had been taken away by the thieves from the gowdowns.

He alleged that later when he went to the B division PS for lodging the FIR police refused to register it. He said later he visited the office of the SSP, Liaquat Khan, and informed him about the situation but he also advised him that there was no need to register the report in this connection.

Azam said that only after he approached the president of the Markazi Tanzeem Tajiran Mardan, the police registered FIR some 14 hours after the incident.
