NA adopts resolution against US hearing on Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Monday declared hearing on Balochistan, by the US Congress, an intervention in country’s internal affairs by adopting a resolution against it, DawnNews reported.

The resolution, tabled by Opposition Leader in NA Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, was unanimously adopted by the house.

Meanwhile, the foreign office has also shown its displeasure on the issue by calling up US Charge d'Affairs, Richard Hoagland.

The resolution says that “the house rigorously condemns and does not accept the hearing by the US congress and considers any such attempt an open intervention in state’s sovereignty and its internal affairs.”

It says that the hearing would further distance both countries and it was important to discourage such steps which could further aggravate an already turmoil relationship.

The opposition leader, earlier, assailed the government over worsening law and order situation of Balochistan and said that the government should learn a lesson from the incident of East Pakistan.

He said it was deplorable that the parliamentary resolutions were not put into practice and a third country was intervening in our internal affairs. “Why US couldn’t see these human rights violations in Musharraf era…?” he added.
