Foreign Office reacts to Balochistan hearing in US Senate

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Thursday said that it has conveyed its concern to the United States for discussion on Balochistan by the US Senate Committee.

Foreign Office Spokesman Abdul Basit in his weekly press briefing said, “We have conveyed our concern in Islamabad and Washington on the issue of discussion on Balochistan by the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee and expressed our feelings.”

The spokesman, while referring to the statement of the US State Department, said that it explains that the US government has nothing to do with this briefing.

“We believe that Washington fully understand our position on this issue,” he said.

About Iran’s issue with the US, the spokesman said Pakistan wants a peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue through negotiations. He said the volatile region could not afford any further conflict.
