Task force to solve traffic problems

PESHAWAR, Feb 2: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formed a task force to find out ways to resolve traffic problems being faced by people in Peshawar city.

In this regard, members of the task force, headed by the chief secretary, also visited the other day some busy commercial areas of the city like Ashraf Road, Chowk Yadgar, City Circular Road, Bacha Khan etc.

The team's members include DIG traffic, secretary RTA and assistant coordination officer, Peshawar. They noted that encroachments, illegal van stands, blockade of roads by vendors, and illegal cabins and rickshaw repair workshops on the city circular road were the major causes of traffic jams.

According to a statement issued here, the team members talked to people from different walks of life to know about their difficulties. They observed that in most parts of the district, footpaths had been occupied by the vendors/shopkeepers forcing the pedestrians to walk on road and adding to the traffic issues. -Bureau Report

The officials set a three-day deadline to the violators to clear the footpaths and roads otherwise action would be taken against them.
