KARACHI, Jan 30: A fine all-round performance by upcoming all-rounder Akbar-ur-Rehman guided Omar CC into semi-finals of the All Sindh Balochistan Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto cricket tournament at the PCB Ground in Dadu on Monday.
Akbar struck 49 from 29 balls with the aid of four boundaries and two sixes and later claimed three wickets for 26 to play a vital role in Omar CC’s quarter-final comprehensive 100-run win over Dollar East CC.After being put into bat, Omar CC made 237-9 in their allotted 30 overs. Fazal Subhan led the way by smashing a 60-ball 76 that included eight fours and two sixes, while adding 142 for the third wicket with Daniyal Ahsan who contributed 68 off 52 balls with the aid of seven fours and a six.
Dollar East CC, in reply, were dismissed for 137 in the 29th over with former Test batsman Hasan Raza scoring 42. Besides Akbar, the other main wicket-taker for Omar CC was skipper Adnan Kaleem (2-22).
In another last-eight tie, Brothers CC of Dadu defeated Balochistan’s Osta Mohammad CC by 30 runs at the Abdul Saleem Ground, also in Dadu. The highlights of that match being a fine innings of 95 by Waqar Ahmed Lund and figures of 5-36 by leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood for the winning side.
District Jacobabad will meet Sir Liaquat Academy of Karachi in the third quarter-final on Tuesday at the PCB Ground.
