KARACHI: Two hat-tricks, the first ones in the 59th National Hockey Championship, were scored by Mohammad Atiq of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Shabbir Ahmed Khan of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Sunday.
NBP thrashed Port Qasim Authority (PQA) 7-1. Mohammad Atiq scored his hat-trick in the 11th, 18th and 54th minutes with the other goals coming from Yasir Shabbir (fourth minute), Mohammad Tousiq (39th min), Ali Shan (48th min) and Arslan Qadir (70th min). PQA’s consolation goal was scored by Abdul Haseem Khan (42nd min).
SSGC beat Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 4-0 with Shabbir Ahmed Khan getting his hat-trick by scoring in the ninth, 12th and 61st minutes. The fourth goal for SSGC was scored by Abbas Haider in the 66th minute.
Army outclassed Habib Bank Limited (HBL) 4-2. The goals for the winners were scored by Mohammad Imran (fourth and 52nd mins), Mohammad Rizwan (27th min) and Mohammad Safeer (32nd min) while Shahbaz Ali (eighth min) and Adeel Hussain (51st min) reduced the margin for HBL.
PIA edged past Navy 1-0 with the lone goal and decider for PIA coming through Yasir Islam in the 47th min.
