LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday rejected an application requesting for a protective bail for former PTV’s adviser Mian Khurram Rasool, DawnNews reported.

Rasool, former media coordinator to the prime minister on Northern Pakistan Television, appeared before a two-member divisional bench of the LHC comprising of Justice Najmul Hassan and Justice Mehmood Bajwa.

He requested the court to accept his plea for protective bail for a day in order for him to put his viewpoint across in a proper manner.

However, the court said that protective bail could not be granted to Rasool without obtaining the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) stance on the issue.

Subsequently, the LHC directed that officials from NAB should appear before the court.

According to a petition moved in December 2010, Rasool as media coordinator to the prime minister on Northern Pakistan Television had allegedly deceitfully and fraudulently minted over Rs630 million on the assurances that he would manage a Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) quota and licence for oil export to Nato forces in Afghanistan to two petitioner companies namely Sahara Gas (Pvt) Limited and Pak Delta Enterprises (Pvt) Limited.
