PRIVATE television channels quoted the Chief Justice as expressing disappointment over the government's action on recommendations given by a special bench of the Supreme Court to stop killings and kidnappings in Karachi.

The court had held special hearings in the city after a wave of target killings and kidnappings by rival gangs in July and August terrorised the populace.
