PESHAWAR, Jan 21: Speakers at a seminar on Saturday urged the government to introduce a uniform education system in the country and ensure arms-free educational institutions.
The seminar titled 'rights and protection of students' was organised by Muslim Students Organisation's (MSO) Peshawar district on its 11th foundation day at the Peshawar Press Club.
Noted among speakers were central nazim MSO Safdar Siddique, provincial nazim Jamiat Talba-i-Islam Iqbal Shah, Rahamdil Nawaz of Muslim League Youth Wing, Faisal Daudzai, Nasir Ahmad Usmani, Khalid Saifullah and Nasir Shah.
'Since its creation, MSO has been trying its best to create awareness among students of their responsibilities,' Mr Safdar said.
He said the main aim of MSO was to promote Islam and caliphate system for being the best system of governance for Muslims. He said several systems were in place around the world but no one could guarantee solution to the people's problems 100 per cent.
Mr Saf dar said caliphate system didn't let anyone usurp others' rights and dispense justice topeople irrespective of their nationality, religion and colour. He said the current system of governance promoted people's exploitation and denied people justice even after years of litigation.
'If we want to get rid of our current crises, we have to enforce Islamic system of government in the country' he said.
He said MSO was neither opposed to policies of political parties nor was it against engineering and medical education and wanted students to work for the development and betterment of Pakistan.
Mr Saifullah said MSO would continue working for Islam and Pakistan's stability against all the odds.
'We want the society with education system based on equality and free from sectarianism, he said, adding that MSO would create awareness among students of Islamic principles to help them lead life accordingly.
Other speakers demanded provision of computers and other facilities to religious seminaries.
Some of them urged the government to sever diplomatic ties with the US and take tangible steps for the release of Pakistani scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui detained in the US.
